Local Dealer Issues
SunSetter has struggled to maintain a consistent local dealer in the greater Jacksonville–St. Augustine area. Dealers seem to change every few years, creating uncertainty for homeowners who expect ongoing support for their awnings.
You might assume that the largest manufacturer of retractable awnings in the United States would have local dealers lining up to represent their products. Instead, the pattern of frequent dealer turnover suggests that something is not working as it should. Customers are left wondering whom to call when they need service or adjustments.
Service Issues
At PowerShade, we regularly receive calls from SunSetter owners who cannot get help from their original dealer. A common issue is the pitch adjustment, which has been a recurring problem and was discussed in a previous blog post. When a dealer leaves and a new one steps in, past customers often fall through the cracks, with no clear path for warranty or service support.
It is not entirely clear whether SunSetter is repeatedly replacing dealers or whether dealers are choosing to leave SunSetter. Either way, the end result is the same: instability and frustration for customers who simply want reliable shade and service. Over the last seven to eight years, there have been at least three different SunSetter dealers in the Jacksonville–St. Augustine area, which is hard to ignore.
Quality
Combine this dealer instability with the fact that SunSetter’s products are not on par with the quality of a PowerShade awning, and the choice becomes clear. If you want a premium motorized retractable awning backed by consistent local support, PowerShade is the better long-term investment.
